Seems like Getzlaf is into hockey so far this year. Big home test after a long trip...usually a game the Hawks lose, historically.

The Ducks and Rangers are the two teams that scare me in the league the most. I am thinking the Hawks are due (and hope I am wrong) Hawks lose 4-2 is my guess.

I have seen 3 of their games. The front line guys are top notch. Their defense is big, but plodding and slow. They will have their hands full with the Hawks speed. Similar to San Jose.

Should be a real good test tonight. Anaheim looks good and their rookie goalie has outplayed Hiller has he not? And as you mention JJ they're a bigger physical team...the kind that usually gives the Hawks problems.

Not thrilled w/ the 8:30pm start - didn't we just finish the road trip to the coast...

Let's hope this isn't the dreaded trap game coming off the long trip and the team will try to do too much in front of the home crowd.

Like the Saad media trumpeting we're now getting it w/ Kane...does McCub ever sleep? No question Kane's been playing lights out, but there's a lot of hockey to play.

Nothing like a UFA Contarct year to get guys like Getzlaf focused.\I am not a Stats guy but Takeaway and PK numbers show me effort, speed and focus on the job at hand

I'm still trying to get over how awful the Sharks were last night in Columbus. Eeegads.
That is one slow, bad team, and rumors of it's defensive greatness have been greatly exaggerated.

Tonight should be a dogfight. I've watched bits and pieces of Anaheim's games this year. Bonino and Palmeiri look like really solid additions. Winnik is kind of playing over his skis and should return to the norm. But Boudreau has definitely gotten a lot out of them.

Kane has just been ridiculous so far. But he's shooting 27%. That's insane. ( He's a lifetime 11% shooter.) So there's no way he keeps this up. But still great to see him playing to the talent level we all knew he had.

LOL, its a 730pm CST puck drop ! Lets Go Hawks !!

The Hawks need to score on the PP tonight against the Ducks. I still think the Hawks speed will casue the Ducks problems if the Hawks D can handle the Ducks 1st line.

Crawford to get the start tonight ?
I hope the crowd gives the Hawks a huge standing ovation when they enter the ice tonight.

We have never beat a physical team ever...jeez. Hockey is physical. Ducks will have more trouble with our speed and team defense than with the physical advantage. That advantage is a bigger problem if the Ducks get up 2-0, and even then, no biggie. Ducks coached by offensive coach Budreau.

830, hey dufus, we just played in Nashville Sunday....guess what...8:30 start...That is 730 central time.

Here we go with mental midget trap game talk. The odds are with them losing a game soon. Not getting a break. Nothing galvanizes a team like a streak, and it provides enough extra incentive and energy to maintain it. Ducks will have to play well to beat a hot team.

More Mc D marketing conspiracy. We should never highlight and get behind our players right. Everyone is so keenly aware of the messaging of the team. I hope it does not effect your sleep. Maybe we should check here and instead of the team posting or promoting anything positive, the next one goal commercial should feature the doom of the trap game. Or maybe, hey we are winning...but most of it is just dumb luck. Yeah, that is the sort of upbeat stuff that really moves people.

Enjoy your team right now. When you are undefeated in regulation, you can only go down. So when that happens, take it in stride. This impending doom and waiting for the other shoe to drop thing makes me glad I don't live in Chicago anymore sometimes.

I'd agree. The Hawks are more physical as a team overall. No so much that they dish it out, but as a team, they don't seem to wilt from it like last season.

Also, I'd agree on the trap game thing too. Aren't trap games where you play an easier team, after or before, a strong opponent or rival? There's no reason they shouldn't get up for the Ducks, they've got a good team.

730 Central Time?

Ummm whilst the Saad stuff has been kinda meh in real life...

I dunno that the second best team in the West qualifies as a trap game but it'll be interesting for sure.

Pretty sure Kane deserves the hype. Number one because he has been a force to be reckoned with. Number two when was the last Hawk to win the Hart? (Mikita super long time ago) Number three he is in the race for the scoring title as well which has never been won by a US born player.

Yes it is early (though 1/4 of the season is dunzo), who knows if that pace can continue, but this is kind of a big deal for not only the Hawks but US hockey in general. It's exciting stuff man.

Have a beer and climb over the anger bridge to the happy shore.

Goaltending was terrible for SJS. But I agree, fixing to eat some crow on thinking they would be better.

The beauty of when Kane cools off scoring, Sharp should start hitting net instead of iron and his assist production will just ramp up.

Wanna talk about how the Bulls will be the best team ever when D Rose comes back and secret weapon and up and coming star Jimmy Butler is unleashed. (soaked with sarcasm in case that wasn't obvious)

JJ listed it in his post as an 830 pm start...

Anaheim Ducks at Chicago Blackhawks
United Center, Chicago
8:30PM Central/6:30PM Pacific
PRIME/CSN Chicago/WGN Radio

By the way I noticed the bulk of your posts are pretty much arrogant and all knowing, but I guess if calling me a dufus gets your day off on the right foot so be it.

Hey JJ.

I was just listening to the Score and Barry Rozner's in the studio talking Hawks. He had a lot of the same things to say about Saad as you have in your blog and stressed like yourself that at some point if he doesn't start finishing maybe Vic takes his place on the top line.

Like you he also said he really likes him and thinks he'll be a good player. He stressed at the end for people who didn't hear him the first several times that he really likes him.
It cracked me up as it sounded like an audio version of this blog.

Great write up today as always. Looking forward to the game tonight; should be good. I like the Ducks mix of skill, size and speed and have been a bit baffled as why they've been so mediocre the last few years.
